[OhQP-mail] Maybe a bit OT? - propagation question

I'm prepping my station and borrowed KX3 for this weekend's OQP.

 

I have 3 different wire antennas and a shortish longwire for listening -
this is hooked to my old Heathkit SB-301.

 

I have been trying to check out my antennas and get familiar with the KX3.

 

BUT. I am hearing very few signals on any band and have checked pretty much
all day / night.

 

Has there been anything going on with the sun or elsewise that we are
experiencing really bad conditions for the last several days?

 

If not I have some serious troubleshooting to do!!
