As a transplanted Buckeye who operated for many years as an "In State" player in the OHQP (both single op and multi op), I look forward to the party every year. And, based on the planned operations page, it looks like there will be excellent participation again this year.
Having operated "in state" for many years I understand how a winning strategy requires picking up as many "in state" Mults as possible on 40 and 80 meters from the beginning to end of the contest period.
But I would like to remind everyone that 20, 15 and even 10 meters occasionally can add a lot of additional state/province Mults and total contacts to your score. Those of us that now live in Florida can't hear or work any Ohio stations on 40 and 80 meters until well into the last few hours of the party. That statement is also true for just about everyone more than a few hundred miles away from Ohio. Please keep us in mind and spend more time on the higher frequencies (especially 20 meters) early in the OHQP.
It's frustrating to see all kinds of spots and RBN info for Ohio stations running 40 meters when we can't hear you down here.
I was looking back at some old scores from years ago working Multi Multi at K8DV and discovered that 43% of our contacts were on 15 and 20 meters one year. I noticed that KW8N (single op) last year had 40% of his contacts just on 20 meters! Coming up in frequency yields results!
Thanks for thinking of us DX stations and good luck to all you!
