Hi all,
<x-tab> </x-tab>What a
great time in OHQP for a change! There was good weather,
propagation was fairly good and thanks to the rovers for all their hard
work, man got a bunch of mults because of them. Someone give them a gold
star...

Had an interesting run on 20 CW that afternoon from the west coast and
south; even a DX! 23 Q's in 27 minutes; it was like I was DX or
something.... But the band was dead when I went to check it later.
And that was about 5PM or so. No action on 15 at all.

80 seemed to be the band of choice at least here in SE Ohio. I was
running HP to a 3/8 wave (96 feet each leg) dipole on 80 (3/4 wave
dipole on 40 and 3/16 wave on 160) with a tuner. Works well because the
resistance and reactance is low on all bands and the losses are low
according to calculations.

40 Meters was long and worked a lot of states there. I had chores to do
but managed to convince XYL that this was an important contest. She
just said OK. My jaw dropped. Worked from 1604 UTC up til 0057 UTC
(Noon til 8:57 E time) or so and then I just died! Looking forward
to next year and will try to give out more of Meigs. I did not work
ONE ATHENS county where there are about 200 hams... what's up with
that? Nor any other Meigs or Vinton counties, all three of which
have active clubs.

OK CU all next year,
