I enjoyed viewing the results and stats for 2016 QSO Party. It was interesting to see how much propagation messed with all of us. Let’s hope that there is a brief respite for 2017.

On a slightly different note, I would like to thank the organizers for doing such a wonderful job at getting out the word and promoting the OHQP. There are a lot of other folks out there that should take a lesson or two on how to throw a State QSO Party. Just because you pick a date and time for a State QSO Party doesn’t mean that there will be much activity. Take a look at the 3830 Reflector and view the results from some of the other states to get an idea of how well the OHQP organizers have managed to get activity and participation. Well done gents.

I would also like to thank the mobiles and rovers for their efforts. These are the guys who really make a difference in the overall qso count and multiplier count. Let’s hope that in 2017 we can get another half dozen or so mobiles and rovers out there.

I’m already looking forward to 2017 OHQP. This year I hope to put up some kind of better antenna for 40 and 80 meters, and maybe I will even have my amplifier up and running by then. For those of you who have been following the saga of my errant amplifier, it is still stuck in Costa Rican Customs but I have been promised that it is going to be released soon according to the freight forwarder.

See you in August.
